As PSP owners, we're used to the occasional firmware update, but as games evolve and change, they sometimes need a booster shot from their creators. That's where game-by-game updates come in and save the day.
Trouble is, it isn't always crystal clear how to use these beauties.
Most PSP titles aren't like PlayStation 3 games in that the portable games don't update themselves. You have to do the legwork, and the games aren't exactly holding your hand on what you need to do.
Let's look at
LittleBigPlanet PSP as an example. You've already got the game, but you've taken some time off and are now ready get back into the online community.
You boot up the system, scroll over to the Community Moon, and hit "Go Online!" Hooray, you're going to play awesome levels your PSP friends made. You're the coolest.
What the hell? You were expecting awesome levels but instead you get "You need to upgrade your version of LittleBigPlanet. Please upgrade from your system patching facility." What the hell is a system patching facility? Disheartened, you quit and begin searching your PSP.
No, the system update feature is not your "system patching facility." Good guess, but that's wrong.
There we go. You have to go to the game icon itself, hit Triangle, and then click "update." You'll connect to the Internet, download a patch, and be good to go once again. Yippee!
